This variety is famous for its white tiger stripe. New leaves come up with white base and marginal green stripe. In Neo breeding, only tiger coloration has been demonstrated to pass faithfully from parent to offspring.

Tip colors vary among wind orchids with ruby roots being the most prized. 'Houmeiden' is one of a number of varieties noted for its bright pink root tips.
